On Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called for the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal following the tragic deaths of three UPSC civil services aspirants in Old Rajinder Nagar, Delhi.
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva criticized the Delhi government, alleging corruption and mismanagement. “The Delhi government is fostering a corrupt system and is itself embroiled in corruption. Why is their Chief Minister, who is currently in jail, not resigning? Why are their ministers not performing their duties?” Sachdeva questioned. He further remarked, “The government is preoccupied with Arvind Kejriwal’s personal issues rather than addressing the pressing problems in Delhi. If they had been working honestly, this tragedy could have been avoided.”
BJP leader RP Singh also voiced strong criticism, labeling the incident as a ‘murder’ rather than an accident. Singh emphasized that the area in question had experienced ongoing waterlogging issues for years and called for an investigation by the Delhi Lieutenant Governor. He demanded answers regarding the operation of a coaching center and library within the affected building, despite the persistent waterlogging issues.

Responding to AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s comments, Singh argued that if Singh believes the government is incapable, he should consider resigning. Singh questioned, “How can the administration function effectively with the Chief Minister in jail and the other officials inactive?”
In contrast, AAP MP Sanjay Singh accused the BJP of colluding with Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, stating, “This incident is deeply unfortunate. Many coaching centers are illegally operating libraries and classes in their basements. We will take action against the officials involved, and the LG must address this issue.” Singh also accused the BJP of punishing the people of Delhi by removing the power to transfer officials and conspiring with the LG.
In response to the incident, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, led by AAP, took action by sealing the basements of 13 coaching centers in Karol Bagh on Sunday due to violations of building regulations. This action came amid student protests. Additionally, efforts were made to clear encroachments over drains in Old Rajinder Nagar using earth movers.
