BJP Leader Calls for Mamata’s Arrest, Labels TMC as Terror Outfit Amid CBI Searches in Sandeshkhali Case

In a scathing rebuke against the Trinamool Congress (TMC)-led West Bengal government, Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of opposition and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) figure in West Bengal, lambasted the administration following the discovery of several arms and ammunition, including foreign-made revolvers, at the premises of suspended TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan in Sandeshkhali. Suvendu Adhikari demanded that the ruling party be designated as a ‘terrorist outfit’, alleging its involvement in activities detrimental to national security.

Suvendu Adhikari contended that such weaponry and explosives were indicative of involvement in anti-national activities, and accused the TMC leadership of losing its moral standing by harboring individuals like Sheikh Shahjahan. He emphasized the gravity of the situation, asserting that the recovered arms, including RDX explosives, were typically associated with international terrorists. Adhikari called for the arrest of Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, holding her accountable for the situation and urged for the classification of the Trinamool Congress as a terrorist organization.

Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at two locations linked to Sheikh Shahjahan, the prime accused in the Sandeshkhali violence, in connection with an attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team in January, allegedly incited by Shahjahan. The CBI disclosed the seizure of various firearms, including foreign-made revolvers and pistols, alongside ammunition comprising nine mm bullets and cartridges of different calibers.

In response, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh raised doubts about the findings of the CBI, suggesting the possibility of a political conspiracy to plant the discovered arms. Ghosh questioned the authenticity of the discovery, noting the absence of official confirmation from the CBI at the time of his remarks.

The situation underscores the escalating political tensions in West Bengal, with the BJP and TMC engaging in a heated exchange over security concerns and allegations of misconduct.
