Sandeshkhali Case

On Monday, the SC rejected a plea by the WB government challenging the CBI probe into land grabbing and extortion cases in Sandeshkhali.

The Supreme Court is expected to resume hearing the state government's petition in the second week of July.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at two locations linked to Sheikh Shahjahan, the prime accused in the Sandeshkhali violence, in connection with an attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team in January

The West Bengal government has challenged the Calcutta High Court's order for CBI investigation in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court will hear this case on April 29.

The ED and the West Bengal government had both lodged separate appeals challenging a single bench order issued on January 17.

Supreme Court has advised the petitioner to seek relief from the Calcutta High Court, given that the court has the authority to for Special Investigative Team.
