Hezbollah stated Tuesday that two of its members had been killed by the Israeli strike, while the Israeli army claimed to have eliminated two significant members of the Iran-backed group in south Lebanon.

Since Hamas’s extraordinary October 7 attack on Israel sparked the war in Gaza, the Israeli army and Hezbollah have exchanged fire almost daily across the border.

But Hezbollah has intensified its rocket attacks on Israeli targets in recent days.

According to the report, on Tuesday, an Israeli drone attack deep into Lebanon killed an engineer working for Hezbollah’s air defence forces while in a vehicle.

The strike struck the Abu al-Aswad area near the coastal city of Tyre, around 35 kilometres (22 miles) from the border.

The fighter’s vehicle had entirely burnt out.

Hezbollah stated that two of its fighters were killed, one of them overnight.

The Israeli army stated, “It had killed two significant terrorists in Hezbollah’s aerial unit on Tuesday morning and overnight”.

Both sides confirmed that Hezbollah shot down an Israeli drone on Sunday evening.

At least 378 people have been killed in Lebanon since October 7, with the majority being Hezbollah members and 70 civilians.

Israel claims eleven soldiers and eight civilians have been killed on its side of the border.
