On Monday, US-backed Kurdish-led forces said that six of their fighters had been killed in an explosive drone attack by Iran-backed armed groups operating in Syrian government-controlled regions of Deir al Zor.
Farhad Shami, a spokesperson for the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), tweeted that the drone struck an SDF commando academy at a US base at Al-Omar oilfield, killing six of our Commando fighters.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella organization of several Iran-backed Iraqi armed groups, claimed responsibility for a drone attack on Al-Omar field on Monday, stating it took place on February 4.
Washington holds the group responsible for a drone attack on a US outpost in Jordan earlier this month, which killed three US troops.
Over the weekend, the US unleashed dozens of strikes against Iranian-backed forces in Iraq and Syria, killing approximately 40 people, the vast majority of whom were claimed to be agents.
As the conflict between Israel and the Hamas group has escalated, Iran-backed militias declaring support for the Palestinians have entered the fray around the area.
