The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the meeting in a post on X, stating that Sandhu had called on the Prime Minister.

Earlier, Sandhu directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to promote the capital as a leading education and healthcare hub.

The authority subsequently held its ninth and tenth stakeholder consultations under the Master Plan for Delhi-2047 (MPD-2047).

The consultations, held on Tuesday, examined plans for developing dedicated education and medical hubs, the DDA said in a statement.

Sandhu has repeatedly stressed the need for adequate, affordable and accessible educational and healthcare infrastructure.

The ninth consultation focused on the proposed Education Hub in Narela. Participants included representatives from Delhi’s Education Department, schools, private universities and other educational institutions.

The DDA outlined plans to develop a 138-hectare hub supporting universities, research institutions, vocational training centres and start-ups. The initiative aims to strengthen innovation, build skills and generate employment.

MPD-2047 provides enhanced Floor Area Ratio (FAR) for schools to accommodate extracurricular facilities. It permits standalone schools and training centres for children with disabilities and special needs, in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act. The plan allows residential schools.

The tenth consultation examined plans for an integrated healthcare network involving hospitals, medical colleges, speciality facilities and wellness centres.

Healthcare institutions and central and Delhi government health departments participated.

The DDA said the plan seeks to strengthen Delhi’s position as a national healthcare hub and medical tourism destination through world-class tertiary and super-speciality facilities.
