Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner Opens Up About Love Struggles Post-Wife’s Passing

After his wife passes away, Gerry Turner of The Golden Bachelor discovers a deep bond and guidance from a bereavement counselor.

Gerry Turner of The Golden’s Bachelor recently talked about his turbulent dating past and his difficulties finding love following the death of his wife Toni in 2017.

In a November 29 interview with PEOPLE, Turner, 72, spoke up about his dating experiences in advance of the show’s finale.

Looking back on his dating experiences after his wife passed away, Turner acknowledged that despite his early optimism, there had been a number of failed attempts. He acknowledged that he had made a number of relationship-related mistakes, including botched attempts at online dating.

Turner said, “The attempts didn’t work out for one reason or another,” recognizing the complexity of his experiences.

The reality TV personality acknowledged that he had first thought that a year of mourning would help him be ready for a new relationship. “Somehow I got it in my head that if you grieve for a year, that at the end of the year, you should be okay,” he said. It was not at all the case.

Three years after Toni passed away, he made the life-changing decision to seek the advice of a bereavement counselor as a result of this insight. Turner was reassured by the counselor about his development, who also provided him with new insight into his emotional condition and validation.

Why, following the death of his wife, did Gerry Turner not enter into a committed relationship?

Turner did not pursue any committed relationships following the death of his wife, but he did highlight a meaningful friendship that grew out of his dating activities. He was aware that he had not been able to develop a love relationship, but he took comfort in growing a close friendship, viewing it as a benefit in spite of his struggles.

Turner talked on how his perspective changed while dating, saying that he experienced a string of setbacks that made him think he might not fall in love again. Nevertheless, in spite of these difficulties, he never gave up and went on to become The Golden Bachelor in an effort to find love again.

But accusations emerged from a woman going by the name Carolyn, who stated that she dated Turner for three years, from the middle of 2017 to the beginning of 2020. Carolyn described the development of their relationship, including arguments and a breakup caused by Turner’s disapproval of her choice of clothes for their high school reunion.

Viewers of The Golden Bachelor are anticipating Turner’s engagement to one of the two remaining contestants, Leslie Fhima or Theresa Nisa, as the season finale approaches.

A “After the Final Rose” special that airs later on offers further details about Turner’s present romantic situation, building suspense for his post-reality show adventures.
