Telangana Sets a Record of 70.60% Voter Participation

The opposition Congress launched a determined attempt to remove the incumbent, while the BRS is attempting to hold onto power in the state for a third term in a row.

With the exception of a few minor incidents, Thursday’s elections for the 119-member Telangana Legislative Assembly saw a voter participation of 70.60 percent.

Late on Thursday, official sources said that the final vote totals would be revealed later.

In the midst of strict security protocols, voting in all 119 assembly segments started at 7 AM. Voting ended at 4 p.m. in 13 seats impacted by Left Wing Extremism (LWE), and it continued until 5 p.m. in the remaining 106.

Voting was permitted for those who were in line before to the designated closing hour.

On December 3, the results will be made public.

A complex campaign has also been carried out by the BJP, featuring a number of prominent figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at rallies across the state.

The majority of exit polls on Thursday indicated that Congress would win Telangana.
