US Missing Chopper Recovered In California, While The Search For Five Marines Continues

The US Marine Corps has discovered a missing military helicopter in California, but the search for five service members inside is ongoing

The US Marine Corps has reported that a missing military helicopter in California has been found, but the search for the five service members inside is still ongoing.

The helicopter was reported overdue on Tuesday when the Marines were aboard.

The 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing is managing the search and rescue efforts, coordinating with various agencies.

The Marine Corps made no mention of corpses discovered with the chopper, implying that those aboard may have survived.

Over the past year, there have been several mishaps involving US military aircraft, notably the crash of a V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft off the coast of Japan in late November, which killed eight pilots.

Five American service members were killed when a chopper crashed into the Mediterranean during a training exercise earlier that month and three Marines died in another Osprey incident in Australia in August.

In April, two helicopters returning from a training mission collided in a remote part of Alaska, killing three more military members and injuring another.
