Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi accused the US of exacerbating the Ukraine conflict on Tuesday but reiterated that Tehran, which has supplied drones, would support a peace deal.

At the United Nations General Assembly, President Raisi said, “The United States of America has fanned the flames of violence in Ukraine in order to weaken the European countries. This is a long-term plan, unfortunately”.

Iran has strained relations with the US, which has placed fresh sanctions on the cleric-ruled state for selling the killer drones to Moscow.

Raisi, on the other hand, emphasized Iran’s neutrality, despite the fact that it has generally abstained from resolutions on the Ukraine war.

“We support any initiative for a cessation of hostilities and the war”, President Raisi added.
