Sikh Restaurant Owner Faces Death Threats In UK Over Khalistan Post, Says, “Do We Have To Die For Police To Act?”

“Do we have to die for the police to act?” worried Harman Singh Kapoor, a Sikh restaurant owner from London who is suffering threats to his life after posting a video for the Khalistan movement on social media.

Pro-Khalistan supporters assaulted Harman’s restaurant just days after they vandalised the Indian High Commission in London.

Harman and his family, which includes wife Khushi and two children, claim they have been attacked three times, mocked on social media, and harassed by hostile phone calls.

They stated that their automobile had been followed since he posted the video in which he invited people to make calls for Khalistan in India rather than abroad nations such as the United Kingdom or Canada.

In an exclusive interview,

Harman said that the attacks started when he posted a video on TikTok. He said, “This Khalistan movement started a while back and then it died down.

Today again, a section of people who are settled in Canada, in England and Australia want Khalistan but those in India don’t want it. So, I said in the video that those who need Khalistan should go back to India and ask for it.”

Referring to the anti-Sikh riots of 1984, Harman said those who do not subscribe to the concept of Khalistan should not suffer.

Harman claimed he received death threats after sharing the video on TikTok.

“After I posted the video, I got two million views for it in two days. But, I started getting calls to take down the video else they would kill me and my family. I wondered who could threaten me like this as I am in the UK. However, five people came and attacked my restaurant,” Harman said.

Harman claimed the attackers told him to take down the sign and raise shouts such as “Khalistan Zindabad” and “Hindustan Murdabad.” They also threatened to kill him if he did not burn the Indian flag.

“I wonder if these people are asking for Khalsa raj or gunda raj,” Harman said.

Many people, like Harman, are afraid to speak up.

The Blooms study, an independent assessment on ‘How the government engages with faith’ released on April 26, cited several such incidents.

“This review’s evidence collection also discovered repeated cases of individuals being intimidated and threatened by aggressive Sikh activists, either directly or indirectly through family members, for openly opposing them,” according to the report.
