Russia blasted dozens of missiles at cities across Ukraine on Monday, killing at least 20 people and crashing into a children’s hospital in Kyiv.
“The rare daytime Russian assault occurred as President Volodymyr Zelensky was scheduled to visit Warsaw before departing for the NATO summit in Washington”, the Polish government claimed.
Explosions broke out, and black smoke could be seen rising from the middle of Kyiv from the video distributed on social media.
Officials from the Kyiv Children’s Medical Facility posted photos of people crawling through wreckage, black smoke pouring from a demolished structure, and medical workers dressed in blood-stained scrubs.
“Russian terrorists once again massively attacked Ukraine with missiles”, said Zelensky.
Zelensky cited Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rig, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk as key civilian hubs in the country’s south and east.
Zelensky stated, “More than 40 missiles of various types. Residential buildings, infrastructure, and a children’s hospital were damaged”.
“There were an unknown number of people trapped under the rubble of the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital and it was not immediately clear how many had been killed”, Zelensky continued.
Earlier, Municipal officials stated that at least seven people were killed in the barrage that struck Kyiv.
Since Moscow invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Russian forces have frequently bombarded the capital with enormous barrages, with the most recent significant strike on Kyiv using drones and missiles occurring last month.
