Russia Shoots Down 28 Ukrainian Drones Flying Over Crimea

On Tuesday, Moscow’s defence ministry stated that the Russian military shot down 28 Ukrainian drones over Crimea overnight.

Russia’s defence ministry stated in a statement that 17 drones dispatched by Ukrainian forces overnight were destroyed and another 11 were suppressed by electronic methods.

It stated that there were no casualties or damage.

Sergei Aksyonov, Crimea’s Russian-installed governor announced on Telegram that 28 drones were downed or destroyed throughout the night.

“There are no victims”, he stated emphatically.

Drone assaults in Crimea have risen in recent weeks as Ukraine fights back against Russian forces.

In 2014, Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine, a move that was not recognized by the international community.

Kyiv has stated repeatedly that it intends to retake the peninsula.

On Monday, waterborne drones attacked the sole bridge connecting Russia to Crimea, claiming responsibility for a devastating attack on a key supply route.

The explosion occurred only hours before a vital arrangement to export Ukrainian grain was set to expire on the Kerch Bridge, a major artery for Russia’s troops in Ukraine.
