Russia denied on Friday that the Wagner group planned to provide Hezbollah with an air defence system.
Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, stated, “We have already said that de facto, such a group (Wagner) does not exist”.
He went on to say, “All of these musings are as a rule based on nothing and have no foundation”.
“There are emergency channels of communication between the (Russian and U.S.) militaries, and if there are real concerns about something, they (the Americans) can always convey them to our military”, Peskov added.
Earlier, it was reported that the Wagner intends to supply the Pantsir-S1 system, also called the SA-22 by NATO, which intercepts aircraft by using anti-aircraft missiles and air-defence cannons.
Putin and the Kremlin have frequently stated that Wagner has no legal foundation under Russian law, which bans mercenary groups from operating within the country, despite the fact that Putin was photographed with one of the group’s most senior former commanders in late September.
