Ravi Shankar Prasad Leads Indian Parliamentary Delegation To UK To Reinforce Anti-Terror Commitment

As part of India’s diplomatic outreach under ‘Operation Sindoor’, a nine-member all-party Parliamentary delegation led by BJP MP and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad arrived in London on Saturday.

Upon their arrival, Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, welcomed the delegation, marking the formal start of their London engagement.

The visit comes after similar engagements in France, Italy, and Denmark, with the aim of reinforcing India’s unequivocal commitment to defeat terrorism.

During their four-day visit from 31 May to 3 June 2025, the delegation will hold high-level interactions with British lawmakers and officials.

Scheduled meetings include discussions with Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons, and Catherine West, Minister for Indo-Pacific at the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

The MPs will also engage with members of both Houses of the UK Parliament, representatives of major UK think tanks, media organisations, and Indian diaspora leaders.

Diverse Political Representation

The delegation showcases India’s united political front against terrorism, with members drawn from across the political spectrum.

Apart from Prasad, participants include BJP leaders Daggubati Purandeswari, Ghulam Ali Khatana, and Samik Bhattacharya; Priyanka Chaturvedi from Shiv Sena (UBT); Congress MP Amar Singh; M Thambidurai from AIADMK; along with former Union Minister MJ Akbar and former Ambassador Pankaj Saran.

The Indian Embassy in London issued a statement highlighting the delegation’s mission to convey India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and to foster international cooperation.

The embassy posted on social media platform X: “The All Party Delegation of MPs led by @rsprasad arrived in London this evening and was received by HC @VDoraiswami.

The delegation will meet and engage with @CommonsSpeaker @LindsayHoyle_MP, @FCDOGovUK Minister (Indo-Pacific) @CatherineWest1, UK Parliamentarians, UK leaders, think tanks, media and Indian diaspora representatives during their visit to the UK from May 31- June 3.”

This diplomatic effort underscores India’s global outreach to rally support against cross-border terrorism and strengthen strategic partnerships.

The delegation’s engagement with the Indian diaspora in the UK also forms a crucial element in building solidarity and amplifying India’s message on the global stage.

As the visit unfolds, the London leg aims to deepen Indo-UK cooperation on counter-terrorism and strengthen India’s strategic communication through parliamentary diplomacy.

Moreover, the unified presence of leaders across parties demonstrates a rare bipartisan resolve in defending India’s national security interests abroad.
