Continuing India’s global diplomatic outreach under Operation Sindoor, an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Saturday after concluding its visit to Indonesia.
Led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, the delegation aims to convey India’s national consensus and unambiguous stance against terrorism in all its forms.
Upon arrival, the delegation was welcomed by India’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, BN Reddy.
The Indian Embassy in Malaysia shared images of the reception on the social media platform X, highlighting the visit’s objective to strengthen strategic dialogue with Malaysia and the wider international community on counter-terrorism.
The delegation will engage with Malaysian ministers, members of Parliament, media representatives, academics, and think tanks.
India aims to reinforce its core message of zero tolerance towards terrorism and build collaborative understanding with partner nations in Southeast Asia through these meetings.
Before arriving in Kuala Lumpur, the delegation concluded a significant diplomatic leg in Jakarta.
Over three days in Indonesia, the MPs held in-depth interactions with political leaders, policy researchers, and academics.
According to the Indian Embassy in Indonesia, these discussions allowed India to firmly articulate its position against terrorism, which received strong support from Indonesian interlocutors.
The delegation includes representatives from across India’s political spectrum, BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Hemang Joshi, and Pradan Baruah; Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee; CPI(M) Rajya Sabha member John Barla; senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid; and former Indian Ambassador to France, Mohan Kumar.
Their collective presence reinforces India’s bipartisan unity on the issue of counter-terrorism.
This outreach comes in the wake of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, following the Pahalgam terror attack.
India responded with precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir on May 7.
After Pakistan attempted retaliatory attacks from May 8 to 10, military operations ceased following a mutual understanding reached in DGMO-level talks on May 10.
The Malaysia visit represents the final leg of the delegation’s tour through Asia, following prior engagements in Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Indonesia.
As one of seven Indian parliamentary teams travelling to 33 world capitals, this delegation exemplifies India’s proactive parliamentary diplomacy in mobilising international support against terrorism and safeguarding global peace.
