A high-level All-Party Parliamentary Delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi arrived in Madrid on Sunday morning, as part of India’s intensified diplomatic outreach to highlight its unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in all forms.
The delegation’s two-day visit to Spain includes high-level meetings with Spanish government officials, Indian diaspora representatives, and civil society organisations.
These engagements aim to convey India’s unified stance against cross-border terrorism, particularly in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack and subsequent ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Alongside Kanimozhi, the delegation includes Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Rai, BJP MP Captain Brijesh Chowta (Retd), RJD MP Prem Chand Gupta, AAP MP Ashok Kumar Mittal, and Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri, former Deputy Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations.
According to the Indian Embassy in Spain, the delegation will hold strategic discussions with Spanish lawmakers and stakeholders to present India’s position of #ZeroToleranceForTerrorism.
The embassy posted photos and updates on social media platform X, affirming the importance of the visit in reinforcing bilateral ties and shared security concerns.
Prior to arriving in Spain, the delegation concluded a successful visit to Latvia.
There, members met Ingrida Circene, Chairperson of the Latvia-India Parliamentary Group, and Inara Murniece, Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee, among others.
Discussions focused on India’s firm position against terrorism and its resolve to respond decisively to any nuclear threats or terrorist activities emanating from Pakistan.
Ashok Mittal, AAP MP, highlighted on X that the meetings served to deepen mutual understanding and underscore India’s non-negotiable stance on national security.
The delegation also engaged with Latvian State Secretary Andzejs Vilumsons and Ambassador Andrejs Pildegovics, Special Envoy for Latvia’s UNSC Candidacy.
Vilumsons reiterated Latvia’s unequivocal condemnation of the Pahalgam attack and voiced strong support for global efforts to eliminate terrorism.
The Spain visit follows impactful stops in Russia, Slovenia, Greece, and Latvia.
These diplomatic efforts fall under a broader campaign to raise awareness about India’s counter-terrorism response post-Pahalgam, particularly the precision military operations under ‘Operation Sindoor’.
As the delegation continues its engagements in Spain, it carries forward India’s resolute message: the international community must hold state sponsors of terror accountable and unite to protect global peace and security.
