PM Narendra Modi on Sunday extended his warm wishes to Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya on his birthday, praising his contributions to youth empowerment and the nation’s sporting landscape.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi acknowledged Mandaviya’s dedication to transforming India into a global sporting force. He also appreciated the minister’s continued support for party workers, highlighting their crucial role in building a self-reliant India.
“Best wishes to Shri Mansukh Mandaviya Ji on his birthday. He is energetically working towards making India a sporting powerhouse and empowering our youth. Equally commendable are his efforts towards the welfare of our workers, who play a key role in building a self-reliant India. May he lead a long and healthy life,” the PM wrote.
On his birthday, Mandaviya led the 25th edition of the nationwide initiative ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ in Delhi. This special edition paid tribute to the courageous soldiers of Operation Sindoor.
“Today’s edition is a tribute to our bravehearts who were part of Operation Sindoor. It is heartening to see citizens across the country pedal together for fitness and for our nation’s heroes,” Mandaviya said.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also extended his wishes to Mandaviya via X, writing, “My colleague in the Union Cabinet, Shri @mansukhmandviya ji, I wish you a very happy birthday. I pray to God for your good health, long life and a happy life.”
Born in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, in 1972, Mansukh Mandaviya began his political career early. In 2002, he became the youngest MLA in Gujarat at the age of 28. His rise in national politics began in 2016 when he was appointed as Minister of State in the Ministries of Road Transport and Highways, Shipping, and Chemicals and Fertilisers.
In 2019, he was promoted to Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Shipping and continued his role in Chemicals and Fertilisers. His elevation to cabinet rank came in 2021, when he took charge as the Minister of Health and Family Welfare.
Following the 2024 elections, Mandaviya was once again inducted into Prime Minister Modi’s cabinet (Modi 3.0), this time taking on the crucial portfolios of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports.
