Heavy rains have returned to the United Arab Emirates, days after the country experienced flooding in April, with many flights cancelled and delayed in and out of Dubai, and residents and students being asked to work and study remotely.
On Thursday, the UAE issued an orange alert due to heavy rains and thunderstorms. The UAE has spent the last few days preparing for this wave of unstable weather, which is expected to peak on May 3.
People have been reminded to adopt safety precautions in all industries. Schools are using distance learning, and employers have been asked to allow employees to work from home. Parks and beaches have been closed.
Due to the emirate’s uncertain weather circumstances, Dubai has announced work-from-home days for government employees on May 2 and 3.
On Wednesday, the UAE’s disaster management authorities reiterated the country’s preparation to deal with the forthcoming meteorological conditions. It stated that all key agencies are prepared to implement actions to address predicted weather changes.
