Prime Minister Narendra Modi with US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden
A day before the high-profile state dinner, US President Joe Biden received Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an intimate dinner at the White House.
Earlier on Wednesday, the United States President and the First Lady welcomed Prime Minister Modi at the White House in Washington DC, on the second leg of his official state visit.
Around 7:36 pm (local time), PM Modi’s motorcade arrived at the South Portico. He was greeted by US President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. The leaders’ friendship was palpable as spoke.
Among other things, the first couple gifted Prime Minister Modi a handmade, antique American book galley from the early 20th Century. PM Modi also gifted the Bidens a beautiful Mysore sandalwood box handcrafted by a master craftsman from Rajasthan, which contain a silver idol of Lord Ganesha.
PM Modi also gave US First Lady Jill Biden a lab-grown 7.5-carat green diamond and papier mache. PM Modi received a signed first-edition book of “Collected Poems of Robert Frost” from Jill Biden.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and his US counterpart Jake Sullivan also attended the dinner, which featured the President’s favorite delicacies – pasta and ice cream.
According to the White House, the trio enjoyed a musical tribute to India’s regions performed by youth dancers from Studio Dhoom that helps connect a new generation to the colorful culture of Indian dance.

PM Modi met Gary E Dickerson, the President and CEO of Applied Materials, Sanjay Mehrotra, President and CEO of Micron Technology, and H Lawrence Culp Jr, Chairman, and CEO, of General Electic and CEO of General Electic Aerospace, prior to his visit to the White House.
PM Modi arrived in Washington DC on Wednesday and began his day by addressing the ‘Skilling for Future’ event, where he stated that India and the United States will serve as the driving engine behind sustainable and inclusive global growth.
Prime Minister Modi stated, “To maintain growth momentum, India and the US need a pipeline of talent. On the one hand, the US has top-class educational institutions and advanced technologies. On the other hand, India has the world’s biggest youth factory. That is why, I believe that the India-US partnership will prove to be the engine of sustainable and inclusive global growth”.
