PM Modi publishes the Tamil classic “Thirukkural” in Papua New Guinean’s Language

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Papua New Guinea colleague James Marape released the Tamil classic ‘Thirukkural’ in the Tok Pisin language on Monday to bring Indian thinking and culture closer to the people of this southwestern Pacific nation.

Modi landed in Papua New Guinea on Sunday, becoming the first Indian prime leader to visit the country. He co-hosted an important summit between India and 14 Pacific island nations to strengthen bilateral ties with Marape.

Papua New Guinea’s official language is Tok Pisin.

“Indian diaspora maintains connection with motherland!” “PM @narendramodi and PM James Marape launched a translation of the Tamil classic Thirukkural’ in Papua New Guinea’s Tok Pisin language,” the Ministry of External Affairs tweeted.

Closer to diversity

The book, co-authored by Subha Sasindran and West New Britain Province Governor Sasindran Muthuvel, is supposed to bring Indian thinking and culture closer to the people of Papua New Guinea.
