Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday highlighted the outcomes of his visit to Jordan, describing the developments as a meaningful expansion of the partnership between India and the Kingdom.
On Monday, PM Modi met King Abdullah II at the Al Husseiniya Palace, where both leaders discussed ways to deepen bilateral trade, with a target of $5 billion.
The Prime Minister also proposed collaboration between Jordan’s digital payment system and India’s United Payments Interface (UPI), aiming to strengthen fintech cooperation between the two nations.
During the visit, India and Jordan finalised several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) across multiple sectors, including culture, renewable energy, water management, digital public infrastructure, and a twinning arrangement between Petra and Ellora.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “These outcomes mark a meaningful expansion of the India-Jordan partnership. Our cooperation in new and renewable energy reflects a shared commitment to clean growth, energy security and climate responsibility.”
He also highlighted collaboration in water resources management, noting that shared best practices in conservation, efficiency, and technology will enhance long-term water security for both countries.
The Twinning Agreement between Petra and Ellora, PM Modi added, will foster heritage conservation, tourism, and academic exchanges.
Furthermore, renewing the Cultural Exchange Programme (2025–2029) will strengthen people-to-people ties, while sharing digital innovations will support Jordan’s digital transformation and inclusive governance.

The leaders exchanged perspectives on regional developments and global issues, emphasising the need to restore peace and stability in the region.
PM Modi reaffirmed India’s support for initiatives aimed at achieving a durable peace in the Middle East.
The two countries expect these agreements and discussions to significantly strengthen India–Jordan bilateral ties and highlight shared priorities in trade, sustainable development, and cultural collaboration.
