French President Macron and Jordan's King Abdullah II have urged Israel to ease land-based restrictions on humanitarian deliveries to Gaza, citing shortages of commodities and the closure of the Rafah border

King Abdullah II last visited the White House in February, when he urged an immediate ceasefire and warned that an attack on Rafah would result in a humanitarian catastrophe

The entry of humanitarian aid through the Erez Crossing was made possible after engineering work was carried out in the area by the Engineering Units and additional IDF forces.

Biden also expressed concerns about Israel conducting an operation in Rafah, the southern Gaza city where over one million Palestinians have sought refuge

The visit comes after weeks of talks between the US and regional powers failed to reach a ceasefire and hostage release agreement between Israel and Hamas
