Massive fire at a shopping mall in Karachi claims nine lives

The fire brigade rescued roughly 50 people, while many were still trapped inside

On Saturday, the official stated that a fire ripped through a retail centre in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi, killing at least nine people.

According to the reports, the fire broke out early in the morning at the multi-story RJ shopping mall in Pakistan’s most populous metropolis, and the fire brigade rescued roughly 50 people, while many were still trapped inside.

In a post on social media, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui revealed that at least nine bodies had been transferred to local hospitals after the fire.

“Search process continues”, he continued.

The cause of the fire was not immediately determined.

It has been reported that numerous people were hurt in the incident and were being treated in hospitals.
