Khalistan Supporters Brutally Beat Indian Student With Iron Rods

A distressing incident occurred in Sydney, Australia, where an Indian student was reportedly subjected to a violent attack by a group of individuals claiming to be Khalistan supporters, as reported by Australia Today. The incident took place in the suburb of Westmead, located in Western Sydney. The victim, identified as Swapnil Singh (name changed), revealed that he is an international student and was on his way to work when he was allegedly assaulted by the mob, who wielded iron rods. The attackers targeted his face, striking him on the left side with a rod.

Swapnil recounted the incident, stating that he was heading to work around 5:30 am when a group of 4-5 individuals claiming to support Khalistan suddenly attacked him. As he sat in the driver’s seat of his parked vehicle, they emerged seemingly out of nowhere. He described how one of the attackers opened the left side door of his vehicle and struck him with an iron rod, hitting his cheekbone beneath his left eye. The assault continued as they forcibly pulled him out of the car, assaulting him with iron rods while two others recorded the incident on their mobile phones. Swapnil asserted that throughout the assault, the attackers repeatedly chanted slogans in support of Khalistan.

Due to the severity of his injuries, Swapnil was immediately taken to Westmead Hospital, where medical professionals attended to his head, leg, and arm wounds. The New South Wales Police spokesperson released a statement confirming that officers from the Cumberland Police Area Command responded to reports of the assault on Rupert Street, Merrylands West, around 5:40 am on Friday, July 14, 2023.

As of now, the Indian government has not issued an official statement regarding this incident, and the matter remains under investigation.
