Some Biden administration officials have stated that the technique could aid in the destruction of tunnels where Israel believes Hamas is sheltering captives, fighters, and weaponry. Other officials are concerned that the seawater may jeopardize Gaza’s freshwater supplies.
A representative for Israel’s military ministry did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
