Israeli and Qatari officials are scheduled to meet in Norway to restart talks about the release of hostages held in Gaza in exchange for a ceasefire and the release of Palestinian inmates detained held by Israel.

According to the report, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani is set to meet David Barnea, director of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, in Oslo. Barnea will most likely meet with Egyptian officials.

Significant impediments, including divisions within Hamas about possible terms, hamper the resumption of negotiations on a new hostage deal.

The announcement of the talks comes a day after the Israeli military said it mistakenly killed three Hamas hostages in Gaza.

During a week-long truce in late November, Hamas exchanged the release of 240 women and teenagers for the release of over 100 women, children, and foreigners held in Gaza.
