A tragic incident has shaken the community as a 24-year-old student from India, Chirag Antil, lost his life in a shooting incident in South Vancouver, Canada. According to the Vancouver Police, Chirag was found deceased inside a vehicle on East 55th Avenue and Main Street after residents reported hearing gunshots around 11 pm on April 12. As the investigation unfolds, no arrests have been made yet.
Chirag’s brother, Ronit, shared that their last conversation hinted at Chirag’s happiness before he headed out in his Audi, only to meet this unfortunate fate. Expressing shock and grief, Chirag’s family and friends are grappling with the sudden loss of a bright and kind-hearted individual.
Varun Choudhary, the chief of the Congress students’ wing National Students’ Union of India, took to social media to urge the Ministry of External Affairs to closely monitor the investigation and ensure swift justice for Chirag. He also appealed for the ministry’s support to assist the grieving family during this challenging period.

In an effort to bring Chirag’s remains back to India, his family has initiated a crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe. Romit Antil, Chirag’s brother, reminisced about their close bond, describing Chirag as a person who never harboured any conflicts and was known for his kindness and politeness.
The untimely demise of Chirag Antil has not only left a void in the hearts of his loved ones but has also prompted a call for justice and support from both local and international communities.
