Israel confirmed the release of four female soldiers by Hamas on January 25, after 477 days in captivity. Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, Naama Levy, and Liri Albag were handed over to Israeli forces in Gaza by the Red Cross and immediately transported for medical evaluations and family reunions.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared a photo of the soldiers standing strong and proud, celebrating their return. The soldiers, dressed in military uniform, were seen waving from a podium, and IDF commanders saluted them on their way back to Israel.

The release marks the second exchange in the ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Gaza. Following the release, Israel is expected to free a group of Palestinian prisoners, though the exact number has not been disclosed.
Earlier in the day, Hamas transferred three other Israeli hostages through the Red Cross to Israeli forces at the Gaza border, where they reunited with their families. In exchange, Israel released 90 Palestinian prisoners, mainly women and children, from the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
This release is part of a fragile ceasefire deal aimed at ending hostilities and focusing on Gaza’s reconstruction. Both sides are cautiously working toward long-term peace, hoping the ceasefire will lead to stability in the region.
