In an unexpected move on Wednesday, former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo said that he would support Donald Trump over Joe Biden in the upcoming presidential contest.
Cuomo, who is currently employed by NewsNation, was a guest on Patrick Bet-David’s PBD Podcast. He declared that he was “always open” to the notion of backing Trump rather than Biden.

“If it’s Biden-Trump, look, for me—again, we survived a Trump administration,” he said, elaborating on his thinking. Would we make it through another one? Indeed, indeed. He doesn’t, in my opinion, put America at any more peril than Biden does. Furthermore, to those who will now accuse me and ask, “What are you talking about?” Trump seems like a weird guy, but as Patrick points out, the facts speak for themselves. In contrast to now, no one was attempting to kill us while Trump was president.
There’s actually greater animosity. To put it simply, existentially, I have no fear of a Trump administration. I don’t fear another Biden administration existentially because, in contrast to many Americans, I think that the nation is far more powerful than any one leader,” he continued.
Along with claiming that the nation “survived” a number of scandals and crises under the Trump and Biden administrations, the 53-year-old television personality also mentioned “the Russia issue,” “Jan. 6, and “having Biden as a blunder factory.”
“We survived these things,” he remarked. Do we benefit from it more? No. Should we be operating in a different manner? Indeed. I believe it takes place. I have no idea when or even why it will happen. However, you know, I would really have to observe where we are at that particular point in time before deciding who to vote for.

Cuomo’s comments stand in stark contrast to his earlier CNN criticism of Trump when he was in the White House. He referred to Trump as “the worst president we have ever seen, period” in December 2020 after the president “issued the most toxic tally of pardons we have ever seen, stalled relief for millions of you, and vetoed pay for the military.”
In December 2021, Cuomo lost his job at CNN after it came to light that he had helped his brother, the former governor of New York Andrew Cuomo, handle accusations of sexual assault and track down one of his victims.
Another accusation of sexual harassment he had to deal with came from a former coworker who said he had touched her in 2005.
