On Saturday, two explosions at a liquefied petroleum gas station in Crevedia, near Bucharest, killed one person and injured 33 others.
According to the Agency for Emergency Situations (IGSU), the fire spread to two tanks and a nearby house after the first explosion, causing evacuations within a 300-meter radius and a blockage of road traffic.
As per IGSU, 25 fire engines assisted in putting out the fire. The health ministry stated, “Four persons were intubated after suffering severe burns”.
On Saturday evening, a second explosion occurred at the LPG station, injuring 26 firefighters, according to Deputy Interior Minister Raed Arafat who is in charge of the emergency response team.
Raed Arafat stated that the fire had not yet been quenched and that more explosions were possible due to the presence of a third tank at the location.
