The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said that an earthquake with a value of 4.4 on the Richter Scale rocked Afghanistan’s Fayzabad on Monday.
On Monday, the earthquake happened at 7:08 a.m. (IST). The earthquake occurred at a depth of 158 kilometers, according to the NCS.
“Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.4, Occurred on 04-09-2023, 07:08:57 IST, Lat: 35.41 & Long: 71.20, Depth: 158 Km, Location: 196km SSE of Fayzabad, Afghanistan,” NCS stated on X.
A 4.8 on the Richter Scale earthquake struck Afghanistan earlier that day, on August 28.
The Government of India’s principal agency for observing the country’s seismic activity is the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The NCS operates a National Seismological Network with 155 stations, each with cutting-edge technology.
