Donald Trump Charged Against Hiding US Confidential Documents In Bathroom, Alleged Of Revealing Military Secrets

Former US President Donald Trump has been charged with obstruction of justice and illegally keeping sensitive government documents at his Florida estate after leaving the White House in 2021. Hundreds of confidential documents, including US military and US nuclear secrets, have been accused of being mishandled by him. Trump is running for presidential elections in 2024.

Trump is accused of 37 crimes

According to the indictment, Trump is accused with 37 crimes in total, including 31 counts of deliberate retention of material related to national security. According to the BBC, six images of cardboard boxes filled with documents in the rooms of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, were made public as part of the indictment against him. Trump is running for presidential elections again in 2024. On Tuesday, he is expected to appear in Miami courthouse.

Trump’s personal aide charged with mishandling confidential information

Along with the previous president, his personal aide Walt Nauta, has been charged with mishandling confidential information. He served at the White House before moving on to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. Nauta is currently accused of conspiring and making false statements.

Charges of hiding classified documents in bathroom

The indictment claims that Trump kept classified documents at his Florida estate’s bathroom and shower. Trump allegedly had boxes at Mar-a-Lago, according to CNN, which contained data on US nuclear programmes, defence and weapons capabilities.

Exposed sensitive information to third parties

The indictment accuses Donald Trump of exposing sensitive information to third parties on two separate instances. In a meeting in Bedminster, New Jersey in 2021, Trump reportedly “showed and described a ‘plan of attack’ and said was prepared by the Defence Department.” A secret map pertaining to a military action at Bedminster in August or September 2021 was also displayed by him.

Trump hid confidential documents in ballroom

The ballroom, where events and meetings took place, had certain files stored on stage. Others were held in his bedroom, at office, and the bathroom and shower. The storage room floor was covered in additional secret documents that had spilled out of the cardboard boxes.

Trump directed moving of classified documents

Prosecutors claimed that the boxes containing the secret documents were initially kept in a Mar-a-Lago ballroom. Some of them were relocated to a business centre at the estate by Nauta in 2021. According to the indictment, Trump allegedly directed moving some of the documents.

Trump tried to hide documents from his own attorneys

According to the indictment, Trump instructed Nauta to transfer documents so that they would be hidden from Trump’s own attorneys and FBI agents. Trump even advised his lawyer to “hide or destroy documents” that were sought by subpoena. Both before and after a May subpoena requiring Trump to hand over hidden government documents at his Florida home, Nauta played a significant role in the moving and concealing of boxes containing classified information.

Two of Trump’s lawyer left his legal team

Jim Trusty and John Rowley, two of Trump’s lawyers, have left his legal team. This occurs only one day after he was charged with federal crimes relating to his handling of classified information. They said, “this is a logical moment for us to step aside and let others carry the cases through to completion” after pointing out that an indictment against Trump had been filed in Miami.
