Ankara Labels A Blast And Gunfire Near Turkey Parliament As Terrorist Attack

One of the terrorists blew himself up and the other was neutralized

On Sunday, the interior ministry stated that a terrorist attack near Turkey’s parliament in Ankara injured two police officers.

“Two attackers arrived in a commercial vehicle at about 9:30 a.m. (0630 GMT) in front of the entrance gate of the General Directorate of Security of our Ministry of the Interior and carried out a bomb attack”, the ministry continued.

“One of the terrorists blew himself up and the other was neutralized”, the ministry reported on social media, adding that two officers were injured but minorly.

The targeted district houses numerous additional ministries as well as the Turkish parliament, which was set to reopen today with a speech from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

NTV reported gunfire in the cordoned-off district, where emergency personnel were present.
