US military sources confirmed that three US Marines were killed in the crash of an Osprey aircraft on a remote tropical island to the north of Australia’s mainland on Sunday.
In a statement, a US Marines official stated, “There were a total of 23 personnel on board. Three have been confirmed deceased while five others were transported to Royal Darwin Hospital in a serious condition”.
