Israeli prison authorities stated thirty Palestinian inmates were released overnight Wednesday, in the penultimate exchange under an extended truce deal set to expire in a few hours.

According to a statement from the country’s prison service, during the night, 30 male and female security prisoners were released from a number of prison facilities.

Ahed Tamimi, a 22-year-old activist who has become a significant figure for Palestinians fighting Israeli rule, was among those released.

She was jailed for an Instagram post, which her family claims she did not make, in which she advocated for the slaughter of Israelis and referred to Hitler.

Her mother Narimane, whose husband is also incarcerated, stated Ahed was unable to register a social media account.

The nighttime releases, which occurred after the release of a sixth batch of hostages from Gaza, increased the total number of Palestinian captives released by Israel under a truce deal to 210.

Under the deal, Hamas and other militants in Gaza released 70 Israelis, as well as almost 30 hostages of other nationalities held outside the truce framework.

Friends and family have celebrated the release of the hostages and prisoners, but skirmishes have erupted for many nights outside the Ofer Prison between Palestinians and Israeli security personnel.

As per the Palestinian Red Crescent, five individuals were injured, one seriously, overnight by live fire outside the prison.
