Authorities reported on Friday that at least three children were killed in a landmine explosion while grazing goats in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Wednesday in the Mir Ali Tehsil of the North Waziristan tribal district bordering Afghanistan. The three shepherd children, aged five and fifteen years old, were grazing goats in the pastures of Khajori when one of them trod on a landmine.
The children would frequently bring their family’s livestock to the area to graze.
“Their bodies were shifted to a hospital for postmortem”, police continued.
There has been no claim of blame for the incident.
Six barbers from Pakistan’s Punjab province were shot and killed by suspected militants in the Mir Ali tehsil on Tuesday.
Pakistan has recently been plagued by a wave of terrorist activities orchestrated by numerous extremist organizations.
According to a recent assessment by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was the most afflicted by terror attacks in November, with 51 incidents, 54 deaths, and 81 injuries.
