Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said India continues implementing reforms and delivering consistent progress despite global crises. He said the country has maintained exceptional momentum and converted aspirations into action.
Speaking at the Indian community reception in Jakarta, PM Modi said, “If I had to describe the speed and scale of India’s growth in one line, I would say: 1.4 billion aspirations in motion”.
The Prime Minister added that people across villages and cities now carry fresh confidence and a stronger resolve to succeed. He said India has advanced through the motto of ‘reforms, perform, transform’ and has turned that vision into practice.
PM Modi also noted that Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto joined the reception, which reflected the close people-to-people bond between the two nations.
The Prime Minister praised the Indian diaspora for supporting Indonesia’s progress and for acting as a living bridge between the two countries. He recalled shared traditions such as banana-bark boats, the Mahabharata in Wayang Kulit and the worship of Dewi Sri.
PM Modi said these traditions reflect the deep civilisational ties between India and Indonesia.
PM Modi said India would act as a force multiplier for progress in Indonesia and the wider ASEAN region. He added that both India and Indonesia remain impatient for development and cannot afford to pause.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said India’s economy has helped drive global growth and has stayed resilient through major shocks. He pointed to the COVID-19 crisis and upheaval in West Asia, saying India’s economy did not stop during either challenge.
Later, PM Modi thanked the diaspora for its warm welcome in Jakarta.
In a social media post, the Prime Minister said the atmosphere at the community programme felt euphoric and deeply moving.
In another post, PM Modi said President Prabowo’s presence made the occasion more memorable and reflected his affection for the people of India.
