The first underwater tourism in India is about to be launched by the Gujarati government in Gujarat’s Dwarka. In an effort to investigate the marine life around Bet Dwarka, a small island off the coast of Dwarka city with mythological significance in the Hindu religion, it has partnered with the Mazgaon Dock Limited (MDL). The effort is similar to the underwater Titanic expedition, which made headlines lately when one of its ships catastrophically disintegrated in the Atlantic Ocean.
Submarine to go 100 metres below surface
Before Diwali in 2024, the tourism facility is probably going to be operational. It will make it possible for visitors to explore the marine life surrounding the island by plunging 100 meters below the surface in a submarine. Mythological sources claim that the location contains a submerged metropolis that was founded by Lord Krishna. There is going to be an official project announcement at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.

It is estimated that the submarine will weigh about 35 tons and be able to accommodate 30 passengers. 24 visitors will be forced to sit in two rows next to window seats at the same time so they may easily enjoy the inside view.
According to Saurabh Pardhi, managing director of Gujarat Tourism, in an interview with India Today, it’s a “different project” that will significantly increase traveler traffic in the area. Every year, a large number of tourists flock to Dwarka because of its religious significance. One of the most important Hindu pilgrimage sites is the well-known Dwarkadhish Temple.
