Employee Resigns Amid Boss’s Refusal of Sick Leave Without Doctor’s Note; WhatsApp Chat Goes Viral

This Reddit post was shared just a few days back and since then it has accumulated more than 6,000 upvotes.

A conversation between an employee and their boss has become really popular on social media, making a lot of people angry. The discussion, posted on Reddit by a user named ‘trustmebrotrust,’ reveals that the employee wanted to take a sick day but was told they needed a doctor’s note.

In the conversation, the employee tells the boss that they woke up feeling really sick with cold sweats, a fever, and body aches, and won’t be able to come to work. The boss insists on a doctor’s note for an “excused absence.”

The employee explains that they haven’t seen a doctor in three years because they can’t afford it, especially for just a fever. They also mention making only $8 per hour the day before and ask if the company covers the cost of a doctor’s visit.

The boss, appearing annoyed, says that the company doesn’t cover it and insists the employee must come to work unless they provide a doctor’s note. The boss adds that if it’s just a fever, the employee should be okay to work, emphasizing that their earnings depend on their performance.

Frustrated, the employee decides not to go to work and ends the conversation by saying they’ll spend the day in the break room playing on their phone.
