A 22-Year-Old Woman Kidnapped And Gangraped By Nine Men In Nellore

VIJAYAWADA: On Sunday, a 22-year-old woman was kidnapped and assaulted by nine men in Nellore. The victim, a Srikakulam native, had travelled to Nellore to care for her sick elder sister.

When the woman was taken to the city outskirts, she was on her way to a pharmacy. A few residents heard the woman’s cries for help and called the police. Before cops arrived, the accused fled in an autorickshaw.

The woman arrived in town on Saturday to attend to her elder sister, who lives in Nellore with her husband, according to police. The younger sister was taken to a private hospital.

On Sunday afternoon, the woman left the hospital to go to a nearby pharmacy to get medicine for her sister.

Four unidentified men abducted the woman in an autorickshaw after noticing her alone.

Another five men joined them on the way to Golagamudi Road on the outskirts of cities. They took her to a deserted location and raped her. Vedayapalem police took the rape victim to the hospital and filed a report.

Locals have provided police with the autorickshaw’s registration number. Police were searching CCTV footage from nearby areas for the rapists.
