Rain Likely To Return To Delhi From Saturday As IMD Issues Alerts Across India

Rain is likely to return to Delhi from Saturday after the southwest monsoon withdrew from the national capital, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The city will remain warm and partly cloudy on Friday, with no weather warning in place.

The IMD has forecast a minimum temperature of around 23 degrees Celsius and a maximum of nearly 34 degrees Celsius in Delhi on Friday. High morning humidity may add to the discomfort. The weather office expects generally cloudy skies and moderate rain in the city on Saturday and Sunday, with thunderstorms and gusty winds at times.

Several parts of the country also remain under rainfall alerts. The IMD has issued a very heavy rain warning for East Uttar Pradesh and a heavy rain warning for West Uttar Pradesh. The regions may also see thunderstorms, lightning and squally conditions.

Uttarakhand will receive heavy rain on Friday, while the IMD has forecast extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas on September 26 and very heavy rain on September 27.

Odisha and Chhattisgarh are among other states likely to receive significant rainfall. A deep depression over south Odisha and adjoining north coastal Andhra Pradesh is driving the weather activity. The system is moving north-northwestwards and gradually weakening.

The IMD has also forecast heavy to very heavy rain in parts of Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala may also receive heavy showers.

Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh have no rain warning for Friday. However, the IMD expects wetter conditions in Delhi from Saturday.
