The air quality in the national capital showed a marginal improvement on Sunday morning, though pollution levels remained a concern across several areas.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi recorded an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 196 at 7 AM, placing it in the ‘moderate’ category.
This marked an improvement from Saturday, when the AQI stood at 227 in the ‘poor’ category.
Despite the slight dip, a thin layer of smog continued to linger in many parts of the city, indicating that overall air quality conditions are still far from satisfactory.
Several pollution hotspots continued to record ‘poor’ AQI levels.
Mundka reported the highest AQI at 266, followed by Pusa (257), Narela and Rohini (247 each), Ashok Vihar (243), Jahangirpuri (242) and Wazirpur (239).
Other areas, including Nehru Nagar, Shadipur, Bawana, Vivek Vihar, Sirifort and Chandni Chowk, also remained in the poor category.
In contrast, some locations recorded relatively cleaner air.
Sri Aurobindo Marg registered the lowest AQI at 126, followed by IGI Airport, Aya Nagar, Lodhi Road, IIT Delhi, Mandir Marg and the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, all of which fell under the ‘moderate’ range.
AQI readings on Sunday were largely in line with levels recorded a day earlier.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi is likely to see a maximum temperature of 23 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 10 degrees Celsius.
The weather agency has also forecast misty conditions, which may continue to impact visibility and air quality across parts of the capital.
Officials classify an AQI between 101 and 200 as ‘moderate’ and any level above 200 as ‘poor’.
