Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 5G Review: Stylish, Reliable, But With Trade-Offs

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 5G is the latest iteration in the company’s foldable series, blending sleek design with stronger performance.

Retailing at ₹1,09,999, it builds on the foundation of its predecessor with a bigger cover display, slimmer bezels, and refined hinge durability.

At just 6.5 mm when open and 13.7 mm when folded, the device maintains compactness while adding a larger 4.1-inch cover display (FlexWindow) and a taller 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main screen.

The hinge feels sturdier, aided by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and an IP48 dust- and water-resistance rating.

Samsung has prioritised display upgrades, introducing a 120Hz refresh rate on both screens and up to 2600 nits brightness on the main display.

The cover screen now offers smoother navigation, though third-party app support remains restricted without workarounds such as Samsung’s GoodLock app.

The main display delivers crisp, vibrant visuals and fluid gaming performance, living up to flagship standards. The nearly invisible crease remains, though frequent use makes it more noticeable.

Cameras: Reliable but Unchanged

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 retains the same dual camera system as the Flip 6, a 50MP main sensor and 12MP ultrawide lens, along with a 10MP front camera.

While the main lens delivers sharp, colour-accurate results in daylight and low light, portrait mode struggles with edge detection, and the selfie camera feels underwhelming for a premium phone.

New AI features, such as Generative Edit and Audio Eraser under the Galaxy AI umbrella, enhance post-capture editing but do not fully compensate for the lack of hardware upgrades.

Powered by the Exynos 2500 chipset, the Flip 7 marks a departure from Snapdragon processors.

Despite initial scepticism, performance proved fast and reliable, with occasional heating during extended gaming or photography. Multitasking remains smooth, supported by Android 16-based OneUI 8.

Samsung has also integrated deeper AI tools, including Now Bar, improved translation, and Google Gemini integration. Notably, the company promises seven years of OS and security updates, adding long-term value.

Battery life sees improvement, with a 4,300mAh unit offering all-day endurance under mixed use. However, the 25W charging speed remains a drawback, taking over 90 minutes for a full charge, a limitation in the premium segment.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 5G delivers on style, premium build, and display performance, making it one of the most refined compact foldables to date. Yet, the lack of camera upgrades and slow charging may hold back prospective buyers.

For casual users prioritising design, portability, and reliable performance, the Flip 7 stands as one of the best foldables this year.

For those demanding cutting-edge cameras or faster charging, however, it may leave room for hesitation.
