The Delhi High Court

The court accepted the undertaking from the government counsel and urged authorities to maximize infrastructure utilization by repurposing vacated buildings for new schools.

Justice Hari Shankar noted that although the government had challenged the court's decision before the Division Bench, it hadn't been overturned or suspended.

The incident dates back to February 4, 2009, when Asma and others allegedly forcibly entered Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Jafrabad.

The petitioner's counsel had argued that the PIL aimed to advocate for the undertrial prisoners lodged in congested jails, suggesting the formation of a committee to convene regularly and determine which prisoners could be granted bail by the appropriate court order.

The court's directive serves as a beacon of hope for the restoration of Tihar Lake and the surrounding area, promising a renewed focus on public welfare and environmental conservation.

The High Court did not spare Urban Development Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj either, criticizing him for turning a blind eye to the situation and merely offering insincere sympathies.

As the hearing date approaches, stakeholders eagerly await further deliberations by the Delhi High Court on this crucial matter.
