Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin has announced his immediate retirement from international cricket, marking the end of an illustrious career.

Centuries from Shubman Gill (119*) and Rishabh Pant (109) in the second innings set Bangladesh a massive 515-run target. The visitors were bowled out for 234, giving India a 1-0 lead in the series

Pant smashed a scintillating 109, while Gill remained unbeaten on 119, ensuring India capitalized on a demoralized Bangladesh bowling attack

Talking to the Jio cinema, Ashwin said, "Even if the Impact Player rule wasn't there, scores would be this high. In my opinion, batters have more confidence and pitches everywhere have been standardized. In the future, all bowlers will need to be hitters. We know that no matter how well we bowl, we also need to be able to bat."

Indian cricket team spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was forced to withdraw from the ongoing third Test match against England in Rajkot on Friday due to a family medical emergency.

Ashwin's achievement places him second on the list of fastest bowlers to reach 500 Test wickets, behind Sri Lanka's legendary Muttiah Muralitharan, who accomplished the feat in 87 matches.

In a similar vein, among Indian batsmen, Cheteshwar Pujara has faced repeated challenges from Australia's Nathan Lyon, falling victim to him 13 times throughout his Test career.

Ashwin acknowledged that India hasn't been able to duplicate its bilateral series victories in ICC competitions, he maintained that the Test team has remained "among the best" in recent years.

The match witnessed a brilliant partnership between Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, which proved to be the turning point in the chase of Australia's 201-run target.

Assessing the T20 series loss, Hardik Pandya and Ravichandran Ashwin present differing perspectives, shedding light on learning from defeat and future preparations amidst social media scrutiny.
