Crude oil prices have fallen sharply following the US-Iran ceasefire, with Brent crude dropping below $80 per barrel.

The Petroleum Ministry said the cost of supplying a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder has exceeded Rs 1,600 despite recent price hikes.

Domestic LPG cylinder prices have increased by Rs 29, raising the cost of a 14.2-kg cylinder in Delhi to Rs 942.

Petrol and diesel prices increased by more than Rs 3 per litre across India, while CNG rates were also raised following a surge in global crude oil prices and mounting losses for oil companies.

The Government of India directs states to ensure uninterrupted LPG supply, prevent hoarding, and strengthen distribution systems for domestic consumers and PMUY beneficiaries.

Oil marketing companies raised prices of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 49 from February 1, increasing input costs for hotels, restaurants and food businesses.

Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced a ₹50 price hike for 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders, effective April 8.

While the specific reasons behind the recent price decrease remain undisclosed, it is speculated that factors such as changes in international oil prices, shifts in taxation policies, and supply-demand dynamics may have influenced these adjustments.
