The Central Government has announced an increase in the MSP for 14 Kharif crops, benefiting around 40,000 farmers in Prayagraj.

Nayab Singh mentioned that the present state government is continuously working to strengthen the poor through various schemes.

Among pulses, the MSP for moong is set at ₹8,682, tur at ₹7,550, which is ₹550 higher than before, and ₹7,400 for urad. The MSP for oilseeds, such as sunflower and groundnut, has also been increased, according to the minister.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher has appealed directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to intervene and resolve the protest.

Recently, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pledged to enact a legal guarantee of MSP if the party secures victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, aligning with the Swaminathan Commission's proposal.

In the ongoing farmers' protest, over 200 farmer unions are set to commence a march tomorrow, advocating for various demands, notably the implementation of a law ensuring a minimum support price (MSP) for crops.

This is not the first time that farmers have come up on roads. Farmers protest has happened earlier as well which went on for 378 days which account for about a year.

The quality of the crop in 16 districts of Punjab and certain areas of Haryana has been impacted by the recent rains and hailstorms
