Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-nation visit to the United Kingdom and the Maldives from 23 to 26 July.

"President Muizzu aims to enhance ties with nations vital for Maldives' growth," his office stated. He seeks to strengthen cooperation between the two countries. He will also visit Mumbai and Bengaluru for business engagements

During his visit, Muizzu will meet with President Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other senior Indian officials. His office stated that the president aims to enhance bilateral ties with countries vital to Maldives' development and growth

EAM Jaishankar, addressing the media, highlighted the strategic significance of his visit to the Maldives, marking it as his first since January 2023.

The election results signal a potential continuation of Muizzu's policies, which may further strain India-Maldives relations, already under pressure due to the Maldives' alignment with Beijing.

Known for taking a slant towards China, New Delhi's economic and strategic competitor, Mohamed Muizzu made the departure of Indian troops from the Maldives one of his primary election promises.
