“We are hopeful that the countries that had put travel advisories restraining their citizens from travelling to Kashmir will be lifted, and we will see a huge footfall of foreign tourists in the valley post-G20 summit in Kashmir."

A significant number of foreign tourists -- even from the countries which have negative travel advisories in place -- are visiting Kashmir and they feel the place is absolutely safe.

“When I attended the events with my father and his group, I began picking up tips from him. People were complimenting me on how well I performed, and this encouraged me,” Shahid said.

The KU, the highest seat of learning in Kashmir, is among the 15 institutions in the country that were chosen to represent the nation and host Y20 events during India’s Presidency of the G20 in the current year, according to a report.

In 2022, a Kashmiri skier, Arif Khan, carried India’s National Flag at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Beijing. The 31-year-old Arif was the lone Indian competitor at the games, having qualified in Slalom and Giant Slalom events.
